Governments will always be tempted to exaggerate how well things are going for their citizens. Most governments must face their electorate once every four or five years, and even those that don’t have to worry about democracy, still face the risk of civil unrest.
Much better that things appear to be going well, especially when it comes to the economy. But could the environment also be the centre of government deception too?
