Over the past couple of weeks we have been celebrating the anniversary of a British institution. Approaching their late 90’s and showing formidable strength despite its diminutive size, she continues to provide a bedrock of quiet, reserved stability.
That’s right, we’re talking about the UK carbon market, which is now one year old.
The market began trading on 19th May 2021, and over the past twelve months, UKA prices have almost doubled to €96 per tonne, reaching an all-time intraday high of €105.82 per tonne on 18th February. They currently trade at a 15% premium to EU carbon prices.
